On 30th of September in 2020, the President Xi Jinping conducted speech at the United Nations Summit on Biodiversity: Guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, China will continue to make arduous effort to promote its nationally determined contributions. China will adopt more powerful policies and measures to make carbon dioxide emissions reach the peak before 2030, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Therefore, there are greater efforts and contributions to achieve the goals set by the Paris Agreement to address climate change.

On twelfth of December in 2020, the President Xi Jinping announced the commitments at the Climate Ambition Summit 2020: By 2030, China will drop the carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by more than 65% compared to 2005 level, on the other hand, non-fossil energy will account for about 25% of primary energy consumption, and forest storage will increase by 6 billion cubic meters from 2005 level. Wind power and the total installed capacity of solar power will reach to over1.2 billion kilowatts.

“Carbon Emission Peak” and “Carbon Neutrality” are undoubtedly the biggest hotspots during the National Two Sessions in 2021. The government work report lists "Complete the task on Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" as one of the key assignments in 2021; in addition, the "14th Five-Year Plan" also includes accelerating the promotion of green and low-carbon development.
