Drinking water testing

● Project background:

The safety and quality of water is of Paramount importance to human beings. All aspects of modern life have a wide demand for water, but different types of water quality standards are different, especially packaged water (bottled water, bottled water, etc.) production enterprises, beverage industry, other food industry and public catering industry have higher requirements for water quality safety.
From April 1, 2023, the state will implement the "Hygienic Standards for Drinking Water" (GB5749-2022) to replace the "Hygienic Standards for Drinking Water" (GB5749-2006). The Standard for Drinking Water Sanitation (GB5749-2022) is formulated in light of the latest reality of China's economic and social development. It was officially approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration on March 15, 2022. The new standard test indicators were adjusted from 106 to 97, with 4 items added and 13 items deleted. It includes 43 conventional indicators reflecting the basic situation of drinking water quality and 54 extended indicators reflecting regional drinking water quality characteristics and water quality conditions under special circumstances. Meanwhile, the data limits of 8 indicators are adjusted.
The revised new standard, focusing on water safety, has adjusted the index limit. Pay attention to risk changes and accurately control water quality. Pay attention to the taste of water, and add sensory indicators. The new standard stipulates the requirements for drinking water quality, water source water quality, sanitation requirements for centralized water supply units, sanitation requirements for secondary water supply, sanitation requirements for products involving drinking water sanitation and safety, and water quality inspection methods. It is applicable to all kinds of drinking water, covering the whole process from the source of drinking water to the production of water, from transportation to water storage and water use.


● The main changes of the new standard:

Compared with GB 5749-2022 and GB 5749-2006, the Standard for Drinking Water Sanitation has been adjusted from 106 items to 97 items. The main technical changes are as follows:
1. Four indexes were increased, including perchlorate, acetochlor, 2-methylisobcamol and geosin.
2. 13 indexes were deleted, including heat-resistant coliform, trichloroacetaldehyde, sulfide, cyanogen chloride (CN-), hexagon (total), parathion, methyl parathion, Lindane, DDT, formaldehyde, 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane, 1, 2-dichlorobenzene, ethylbenzene;
3. The names of 3 indexes were changed, including the name of oxygen consumption (CODMn method, calculated by O2) was changed to permanganoate index (calculated by O2), the name of ammonia nitrogen (calculated by N) was changed to ammonia (calculated by N), and the name of 1, 2-dichloroethylene was changed to 1, 2-dichloroethylene (total amount);
4. Limit values of 8 indexes were changed, including nitrate (N), turbidity, permanganate index (O2), free chlorine, boron, vinyl chloride, trichloroethylene, dimethoate;
5. The specific requirements of total β activity index for nuclide analysis and evaluation and the application of microcystiin-LR index were increased;
6. The temporary provisions on water quality indexes and limits of small centralized water supply and distributed water supply have been deleted;
7. 29 indexes were added, including vanadium, hexagon (total amount), parathion, methyl parathion, Lindan, DDT, trichloron, methyl thiofungicin, oryzoline, fluralin, methoxylum, Cephalozine, acephate, formaldehyde, trichloroacetaldehyde, cyanide chloride (CN-), nitrosodimethylamine, iodoacetic acid, 1,1,1, 1-trichloroethane, ethylbenzene, 1, 2-dichlorobenzene, perfluorooctanoic acid, perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl trisulfide, iodide, sulfide, uranium, radium-226;
8. Two indexes, including 2-methylisobcamol and geosmin, were deleted;
9. The name of 3 indexes was changed, including the name of ethylene dibromide was changed to 1, 2-dibromoethane, the name of nitrite was changed to nitrite (in N), and the name of asbestos (> 10μm) was changed to asbestos (fiber > 10μm);
10. The limit value of one index was changed to petroleum (total amount).
